Advancing Careers for Professionals
The Lowell Institute for Mineral Resources offers programs to accommodate working professionals. These programs offer a mix of geology, engineering, health, environmental, law, and business course work. Options include practical and intensive field courses, short courses, non-credit certificates, post-baccalaureate certificates, non-thesis master’s degrees and training courses for mine safety.
Degrees include Professional Science Masters in Economic Geology, Master of Engineering in Mining Engineering, Master in Legal Studies. A graduate certificate in entrpreneurship is under development.
Short courses are taught by industry experts and feature mentoring activities. Most courses are captured and streamed live and on-demand on the internet. Students and professionals can access courses from anywhere in the world they have an internet connection. In addition, our high-definition video conference system allows students to access our courses with live interaction – from classrooms, conference rooms or from their PCs. More than 1,300 industry professionals have participated in Lowell Institute for Mineral Resource programs in the past seven years, from 80 companies and 27 countries.
The Mining Institute for Supervisor Leadership (MISL) offered every April helps up and coming professionals learn leadership skills, particularly focused on safety leadership.
